Instructions
You will need:
· Dylon Easy Batik
· Dylon Cold Water Dye
· Dylon Cold Dye Fix
· Salt (125g / 4oz)
· Rubber Gloves
· Bowl
Instructions:
1. Wash, rinse and
dry article. Insert a protective backing,
e.g. piece of cardboard etc, behind area of fabric to be
worked on.
2. Draw design onto fabric using soft pencil. Shake
bottle thoroughly.
3. Apply liquid liberally with brush directly onto
fabric. Allow fabric to dry
thoroughly - preferably overnight. Wash brush with water
after use.
4. Fix the design by covering the area with a clean
cotton cloth and ironing
each part of the design for 2 minutes on the cotton
setting.
5. Prepare solution of Cold Water Dye, Cold Dye Fix and
salt in a bowl as per
instructions with Dylon Cold Water Dye pack.
6. Place unfolded, dry fabric into bowl keeping
designed areas flat and face
up in the solution.
7. Agitate by lifting the fabric out of the dye
occasionally before replacing
carefully. DO NOT stir vigorously as this may reduce the
resist effect.
8. Dye for 30 minutes for best resist effect. Longer
dyeing times will be
required to obtain stronger base colours, but the resist
effect may be
reduced.
9. Rinse thoroughly. Wash in hot water to remove excess
dye. A
longest/hottest wash in a washing machine is best (using
usual
washing detergent).
10. Dry away from direct heat and sunlight.
11. If dyeing more than one colour apply Easy Batik to
areas where original
colours are to be retained.
